Older homes in the close-in neighborhoods
Henrico has more older homes than its suburbs to the south. About 37% of Henrico homes were built before 1980, compared with about 27% in Chesterfield, according to the Census Bureau. Many are in close-in neighborhoods like Lakeside and Tuckahoe.
Older homes mean more chimneys. On the Henrico roofs we priced over the past year, about 1 in 3 had a chimney to flash, twice the share we see in Chesterfield, and about 2 in 3 had a spot where the roof runs into a wall.
Porches, additions and low-slope sections
Many older homes have a porch roof or addition that’s nearly flat. Virginia’s building code allows asphalt shingles only on slopes of 2:12 or steeper, so on those sections we use a membrane instead, tied into the shingle roof around it.
Close to our shop
Because we’re based in Ashland, most of Henrico is a short drive, which means more open estimate times. Leaks in Glen Allen and northern Henrico are usually a quick trip.

Questions
Common questions
Do you work in Short Pump and eastern Henrico?
Yes. We work across the county, from Short Pump and Glen Allen to Lakeside, Tuckahoe and Highland Springs. Enter your address when you book and we’ll confirm right away.
Part of my roof is nearly flat. Can you do that too?
Yes. Low-slope sections get a membrane rather than shingles, and we tie it into the rest of the roof. Houston will look at it during the free estimate.

Let’s take a look at your roof.
Houston comes out, looks it over, photographs what he finds and gives you an itemized price. It’s free, and there’s no obligation.
