Our story

From general contractor to roofing first.

Seth Brown started BNH in June 2019 as a general contractor: framing, garages, additions, roofs. In spring 2026 we made roofing our focus, with gutters and siding alongside it: they’re the rest of the system that keeps water out of a house.

President

Houston has spent 23 years in roofing: residential re-roofs, metal, slate, flat membranes, and a $3 million commercial project for the University of Virginia.

He runs every BNH estimate himself. When you sign, he stays your single point of contact through install day and the final walkthrough.

He lives on a farm in Beaverdam with his wife Rachel and son Remington.

Leadership

Seth Brown

Founder & CEO

Seth grew up in Washington, D.C., and studied biology and economics at Dartmouth. Right after graduating in 2014, he and his wife Jackie (his high school sweetheart) settled in Richmond.

He founded BNH in June 2019 as a general contractor and led its move to roofing first, with gutters and siding alongside.

Seth and Jackie have two kids, Theo and Tessa.

Sean Denney

COO

Sean is a business partner at BNH with a background in analytics, finance and operations. He studied economics, math and philosophy, with graduate work in decision-making and applied analytics.

He builds the systems behind the scenes, so your appointment is confirmed, your crew shows up when we said, and nothing falls through the cracks.

He lives in Richmond with his wife Gill and their dogs, Pickles and Peanut.

We carry general liability and workers’ compensation insurance on every job. Ask and we’ll send you a certificate of insurance.

Local

Based in Ashland. Working where we live.

Our shop is in Ashland, in Hanover County. We don’t have a showroom; we come to you, across the Richmond metro and the Fredericksburg and Charlottesville areas.

We’re a recurring building partner for Project Homes, a Richmond nonprofit that repairs and builds homes in the community. In March 2026, HelloNation featured Seth as a residential roofing expert.
