What would a new roof cost? Start with your address.

We measure your roof from above and price it from our own price book. You get an honest range for both packages, before anyone comes out.

Virginia addresses. We don’t keep what you type unless you book or ask us to email you. Your browser holds it for two hours, so you don’t retype it to book.

How it works

Three steps, no guesswork hidden

  1. 01

    Find the house

Your address is matched to the building outline the Commonwealth of Virginia maps for every home in the state.

  2. 02

    Measure the roof

The footprint is adjusted for roof slope. In Henrico and Chesterfield, county records on the house help us estimate the pitch.

  3. 03

    Price it honestly

Both packages are priced per square from our own price book. When we’re not confident, we say so instead of guessing.

Questions about RoofRead

Is this a real quote?

No. It’s a ballpark from aerial data, so you know roughly what you’re looking at before anyone comes out. Houston’s free estimate gives you the exact, itemized price, and that’s the number we stand behind.

Where does the measurement come from?

The Commonwealth of Virginia maps the outline of every building in the state. We take the outline of your house, adjust for the slope of the roof, and price it from our own price book. In Henrico and Chesterfield, county tax records help us judge how steep and cut-up the roof is.

How accurate is it?

We tested it against 72 roofs we’d had professionally measured. About 9 in 10 came within 20% of the real roof area. That’s why we show a range, not a single number.

Why can’t it price my roof?

Some roofs fool a satellite: flat or low-slope sections, very large or very complex roofs, or an address that sits between buildings. In those cases a guess would mislead you, so we don’t give one. Houston will measure it in person, free.

What can make the real price different?

Rotten decking under the old shingles, a second layer to tear off, chimneys, skylights, steep pitches and how hard the roof is to get to. None of those show up from above.

Do you keep my address?

Not unless you book or ask us to email you the ballpark. The aerial photo is fetched by our server, so your address never ends up in a link. If you email yourself the ballpark, we keep your email, ZIP and the range, not your street.
